Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of the Place of Grace Church is our mission to the world. It begins at home, with our relatives, our peers, on social media, our own community, towns, city, state and spreads overseas to every nation. The Place of Grace is involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as cleaning the church, to preparing the church bulletins, workers needed for church and other related events. Though we are a small and growing church and we may not have the same activities as larger ministries we encourage the members we have to utilize their gifting.

Mission Outreach

The Place of Grace is thrilled to be part of the spread of Gospel around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. The Place of Grace Senior Pastors are Co-Founders of the Safe Harbor Network. This organization has endeavored to mentor other Pastors worldwide in God’s grace and assist them with other difficult issues. Through the Safe Harbor Network, the Place of Grace sponsors member Pastors, as well as attendees to travel to places like South Africa, Zimbabwe, etc. The Place of Grace youth director has involved our youth in practical projects and evangelistic outreach. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in their own community. More recently, the Place of Grace has partnered with Harvest Ministries, Pastor’s Steve and Gwen Coragan and their outreach into Central America. They have a refreshing and exiting ministry we are pleased to be part of. Also we currently support in various ways, Movement Church, Madison, Alabama, with their missions to Lusaka, Africa in building pastors and people in the love of God. In addition, current mission support has been given to Megan George once a member of The Place of Grace a member of Campus Crusade or CRU missions to Melbourne, Australia and soon to be Africa.

Music & Drama

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. We encourage church members to get involved in music, drama or dance. Some play their instruments, some are vocalists while others are involved in the choir or dance. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry at The Place of Grace. If you have a gift, it’s about using your gift/talent to minister to God and the hearts of others and not to use the church as a stepping stone to a professional career in the arts. Using talents and gifts to glorify God is a remarkable and privileged thing to participate in.

Being a Greeter at the Place of Grace fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. A Greeter  gives members and seekers their first impression of God and The Place of Grace. The Greeter team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege at The Place of Grace. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for Kingdom purposes. Currently, We are in the process of uploading weekly sermons to our website in video and audio formats. We also maintain an active Facebook feed for additional church communication. Pastor David provides weekly inspired comments on Facebook.

Marriage Counseling

Marriages can be difficult to maintain. Misunderstanding, confusion, resentment, and anger can flare up in any marriage. Pastor David and Althea see stable married couples as a very critical part in the restoration process of people and families. Spiritually inspired married and foundationally sound couples are at a premium today. This ministry in listening, understanding, helping, and encouraging struggling couples has, by God’s grace, saved marriages, and repaired relationships. Couples have found fresh hope and new joy in a warm and fulfilling relationship with their spouse.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God through the love he has for us. The Place of Grace is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, just before the morning service, a team of volunteers prays for the ministry of the Word. Throughout the week, volunteers are asked to pray, praying for the pastors, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs.

Children’s Ministry

In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, The Place of Grace can provide Children’s ministry in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives children more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s ministry volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from puppet shows, to games, to object lessons.

Vacation Bible Week

Each summer, The Place of Grace, dependent interested children hosts a Bible Vacation Week. The week-long event involves games, relevant preaching, great food, good worship, and the intentional influence of church leadership. The volunteers are selected, and screened for this important Bible Vacation Week. They find that their ministry is personally rewarding, and both volunteers and leadership grow in the process.
